The château was built in the 17th century by the Marquis de Fayet, then Counselor to the Bordeaux Parliament and ancestor of the current owner. It is a characteristic example of the grand style residences of the Bordeaux region and boasts a remarkable location, as it stands on the tip of the Entre-Deux-Mers terrace, exactly halfway between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers.
The three main Bordeaux varieties planted at chateau Peychaud: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot evolve on various gravel and alluvium soils, which give to the wine complexity and a superb expression of the fruit. Since 2012, the two sisters de Pontac, Slanie and Elisabeth, produce red and Rosé wines in a pure Bordeaux style.
